Best varieties of vegetables to grow in hot weather in Adelaide?

I'm going to get a container Vegetable Garden :) From what I have read the following are adequate and easily grown in pots … I'm just wondering if anyone can advise on what best suited hardiest variety / types of plants that will last in time Adelaide hot?-Lettuce Tomato, Onion, Cucumber, zucchini, peppers, green beans I have posted this in gardening and travel Adelaide hoping to get good answers:-D

Zucchini, tomatoes and cucumbers will be ok. Lettuce I do not know, should not grow lettuce in soil that is no tropical as well? Check with some information on agriculture Canarvon in Western Australia. They produce more fruits to vegetables in Australia
