Garden Plants

Does anyone know if there is any home garden plants / that can filter out pollution like car exhaust?
We live in a very busy highway in France, where diesel is the norm. I'd like to put some large trees at our booth to help absorb the sound and helps clean the air. Can plants actually clean the air filter, or they simply extract CO2?
Several air filter, but not really in any great scale. Diffenbachia is one of the best I have read about, but several others, including philodendrons, Pothos and peace lilies will do it too.
