Gardening Double Digging

gardening double digging
How do I fix this? helping! Two problems. "

1.) A rectangular garden has a length that is 4m more than its width. About 2m wide path of this garden. The garden area over the road is 77m sq.Find the dimensions of the garden. Show work. 2.) The plot of 5m by 15m garden has one of its sides closer to a wall. The plot area should be doubled by digging a stip of uniform width along the other three sides. How wide this range should be? Show work. … Please respond within two hours. Thanks in advance!

Issue 1) Let x represent the width of the garden rectangles. If the length is more than 4m in width, the length is x 4. Now, you have a 2m wide path around the garden. That would make the greatest width of 4m, and it would make greater length 4m: width = x + 4 + 4 + 4 = length x + 4 + 4 + 8 = x We know that the garden area, including the road is 77m ² The formula for this is the length * width: length * width = 77 (x 8) * (x +4) = 77 x ^ 2 + 4x + 8x + 32 = 77 + x ^ 2 + 32 12x = 77 x ^ 2 + 12x – 45 = 0 (x – 3 ) (x + 15) = 0 x = 3 or x = -15 Now, we can 't have a negative length or width, so that we throw away and use only -15 x = 3. Our original width is x, then the width the garden is 3m. Our original length was x 4, so the length is 3 +4 = 7 million. – ——————————————– Problem 2) The garden is 5m by 15m, so the area is 15 * 5 = 75m ² We need to double that area, which would make the area of 75 * 2 = 150 square meters We have to add width uniform for all three sides. Let this be represented by uniform width x. If we add x to the sides of the garden that is next to the wall it would make the length of the garden 15 + X + x = 15 + 2x. Since we will only be adding the width of the front yard and not the back (since my back against the wall), we will be adding to the width x. The width will be 5 + x. The area's largest garden is 150m ² The duration will be 15 + 2x and width will be 5 + x We can rewrite them so that length is 2x + 15 and the width is x + 5. The area is length * width = area (x +5), (2x +15) = 150 2x ^ 2 + 15x + 10x + 75 = 150 2x ^ 2 + 25x + 75 = 150 2x ^ 2 + 25x – 75 = 0 Use quadratic equation to solve for x x = 2.5 or x = -15 Again, the length can not be negative, so let's throw away and use only 2.5 -15 So, the width of the track being added around the three sides to double the garden area is 2.5 m
