Gardening Scallions
chive chives substitute?
I grow chives, but I do not have enough to get in, (I use them in cooking pork and chicken and potatoes, but as they grow like crazy so I have 4 square meters of garden dedicated to them), but I thought I could substitute chives for scallions in soups and pancakes chives. this work?
Oh yes, you certainly can! Your home grown onions have a slightly spicy flavor though, but maybe a little change revenues as a whole day can inspire you to try new dishes with chives. Last year, when I had my garden and they grew faster than I could wear them for the season, I passed them as small gifts for everyone and was amazed at how many people have asked for more! You can also dry them and store them away for up to four months. I use chives how people use the salsa, I love so much. Wish you could send me some!
