Container gardeners – how to secure the containers in the fall / winter?

A big thank you to everyone who suggested months ago I try to cultivate a garden in containers, because I do not want to dig up my small backyard. Fruits / vegetables are still flourishing and feeding the whole neighborhood. Anyway, for the winter, what I do substrate with very good "Solo" I and the containers themselves? Do not leave the substrate in containers and store them just like that? I have a storage shed, or I leave them out? I put litter on the containers to protect them, or that encourage the growth of mold? In addition, next year, I plant tomatoes tomatoes in containers, or do I put some other fruit / veggie in? Congratulations on your container garden successfully. I do my containers Empty and store the soil in another container. This is mainly so I can clean the pots to use next year. I've never heard of the use of burlap to cover them and hesitate to where I live, because we have a large amount of rodents that would use it as nesting material. A lot of container gardeners will say that you do not reuse of the soil next year, but I'm so cheap I do it all the time. I just add a little organic fertilizer and revitalize the soil with compost I am ready to use it again. I keep my containers and clean out my soil in my garden shed during the winter. And a neighbor (which is the way the organic farmer) told me a couple of years ago never to use the same pan in a row two years for tomatoes. Since I stopped doing this, my tomato plants are healthier than when I used the same pots years after years.
