Kids Gardening Apron

Can anyone help me identify this kids book?
I'm going crazy trying to remember this book from my childhood … It was about a small creature as a mouse or a hedgehog who worked as a gardener. The lines were something along the lines of "And then she put trowl and its inclination and its shovel his wheelbarrow and went down home to do gardening Mrs_______ "She also wore a small green apron who put their remuneration within the landscaped character for a lady who brought lemonade and cookies while she worked. It was a watercolor style illustrated book, or is not a book of bright colored blocks. If anyone can help even more details would be great! Thanks!
