Or knees starting to age and even if you loved gardening all your life, you're having more difficulty up and down and are afraid that you have to give up full of gardening? Did you spoil the last pruning of your roses because of worsening arthritis in your hands?

A Google search of "disabled gardening tools" leads to 125 websites with equipment specific adaptive helpful. "handicapped gardening" gives a huge 873,000 results where you can find advice and "Gardening disabled "yields 111 000. Let the arthritic fingers do your walking!

Problem: "The earth is too far down there!"

Consider making your garden, sitting in a chair instead of on the floor, squatting or bending over. The most obvious solution is to build raised beds and containers dispersed throughout your garden area. Buy cheap plastic outdoor chairs and place one beside each mini-garden so you do not have to drag or load when it's time to weed. You can sit and enjoy the feel of moist earth beneath your fingers and breathe in the heavenly smell of fresh fish emulsion.

If you hang a cup holder on the edge of its container, you can even afford the luxury of tea or coffee with your weeds. Perhaps the emulsion fish should expect.

Do not think you lost, now that you can not crawl around weeding the perennial border; teach your grandchild or a neighborhood child the joy of being found doing that task … you just find a new adventure in gardening. The good news is that you can find all the different special areas your yard where you can put a mini-garden.

Get creative. Put a beautiful container near your front door and wonderfully fragrant plant flowers for greet your guests … or perhaps a nice cherry tomato plant that can steal your way to play your bell. Place a right waist high herb garden outside the kitchen door and add a space in which the cut flowers for your favorite.

When you decide where to locate the bed or container, do not forget remember physically demanding practicalities such as dragging a heavy hose to water it. Think and plan a low energy solution for what you will make the composite material.

Problem: "My painful hands do not have the strength to …"

You can get the tools they extend their arms to reach the ground level flower bed from a sitting position. Several manufacturers make, especially with lightweight tools handles to keep the wrist and hand in a stress-free position and provide a firm grip. Small, light rakes, hoes, etc. like this can work wonders.

Think ratchet pruner, ratchet lopping shears … let the laws of physics to join hands with the hand. You will be surprised when you look for the tools available. Pull weeds difficult to step on a lever.

Problem: "I get so tired so quickly."

Hey, the weeds do not grow all at once, you do not have to pull them all at once. Same pace. Finding ways to do something you do when gardening you sit and drink a cup of tea and listen to the birds, rather than a work chore you slave away for a full afternoon. Pull up a fragrant herb garden near his front door on your way out and another weed on the way in. Plant parsley in your herb garden kitchen door while the toast is toasting and the coffee drips.

Purchase and installation of three sets of flowers instead of a full apartment. Take a nice aerobic walk around your yard, stopping at a different container for five minutes 'conversation' with their plants in each cycle, and then go back inside and plop on the couch. You'll be surprised at how much is done in these mini workshops. Your heart will love you too.

Remember, one of the nice things about flowers is that they have nothing to prove. We can all learn a lesson from them.
