Royal Botanic Gardens

Situated near the center of Melbourne, Royal Botanic Gardens are considered the best botanical gardens Australia and among the best in the world. Founded in 1846, the gardens began, but nothing quite like an uninspired mix of swampy marshland and rocky outcrops.

Nowadays, the gardens are home to more than 51,000 individual plants, representing more than 12,000 different species. Besides the variety of botanical life that is housed here, the gardens have become a natural sanctuary for an impressive array of native wildlife, including black swans, kookaburras and bell birds.

This is a track that runs alongside one of the boundaries of the garden and was initially used one-horse race. Today has become an extremely popular among runners in Melbourne.
