How your garden grows: Tips for hiring a landscaper

Only when you are done with snow shovel, you can set your sights for spring (And summer) and mowing the lawn. But for many the grass was much greener if they could just get someone to do it (the cut that is). But excising a reputable landscape architect, one who not only knows what he is doing, but you can trust and can afford can be very challenging and difficult, especially if you are unsure about what to ask or search. With that being said, professionals offer the following advice for homeowners who are a little "green" area gardening.

1. Put your money where your word of mouth is: If you're going to invest in any business, your best bet is to chose between those who come highly referred by those you know and trust. After that there are no better advertising than a customer content. And by all means, do not be afraid to ask strangers and neighbors (with beautiful lawns) for their recommendation.

2. Dig A Little Deeper: Go below the surface and unearth some solid references. Not only should you ask the client's approval, but ask for a look in their backyards. You'll also want to ask your service provider potential to see a sample of your work, including photo albums and the work presented in magazines.

3. Refrain from planting a seed Financial: Sometimes the service professionals will charge you based on what they think you can afford, or a number "comfortable you have revealed to them. Instead experts suggest giving a detailed landscape view wish list and allowing you to generate an estimate.

Insta-Garden Alternatives: If you have time, energy and ambition to do much of the work yourself, experts suggest hiring a landscaper or landscape architect to prepare plans and a schedule of planning (Preferably from the spring). And note that some nurseries offer this service free or for a nominal fee.
