Vegetable Gardening Companion Planting

How should I plant my garden?
I just built two raised beds. They are each 3.25 '12 ', north / south, with both feet between the beds in southern California. mild climate. Too much sun. Very refreshing in the morning. Planning drip irrigation. I want to plant: collection maximum of vegetables, "the year has had much success with artichokes, tomatoes (OMG!) zukes, cukes, strawberries, eggplants, jalepeno, etc. What should I plant where in my bed again? I know nothing about permaculture, plants or partner. I just like to eat vegetables. We aphids terrible!
Plant basil between her and marigold plants to deter aphids, you can also dose the leaves with a very dilute solution of water and detergent for cleaning the dish. Have you tried to grow pumpkins? They take care of themselves and pumpkin soup is fantastic. If you like spinach or silver beet plant these too they grow well in the years around and take care of themselves. Maybe some herbs – parsley or oregano? I have all these plants in my garden, in New New Zealand beyond most of you have mentioned and they all live happy together.
