A simple garden, is easy to care for and maintain supply you with an abundance of vegetables and herbs healthy throughout the summer. Even a small investment of $ 50 in some commodities and seeds can result in over $ 1200 in products! That is a huge return, but you know you will all tastes better than anything that has been sent to your local grocery store.

There are three basic steps to get started. Plan, prepare and plan, so simple.

1) Planning: It can be overwhelming to stand in front of one monitor seed and trying to decide what to get. First, Start with what you like to eat. There's no sense in growing peppers if you do not enjoy them on your salad. You're in charge here and not There is no obligation to grow certain things just because you think you should, or your neighbor is growing. Sit down and be really honest about what to eat and enjoy. Start simple, maybe just go with two types of tomatoes, peas and snap beans. Do not go crazy and try to start with a dozen different vegetables, you'll get overwhelmed and tend not to plants, or throw away the excess.

2) Prepare yourself: Go to the backyard and see what areas receive the greatest amount sun during the day vegetable gardens need full sun! Now you must decide how much space you want to devote to your new garden. If you want to keep it simple, something as small as an area of 4 x 4 meters would be enough. You could even start working on vessels with a point-platform for growth, just get it! Then you need to dig the soil and remove any grass (lawn) area. Going down about 6 inches to loosen the dirt will suffice. Remove all roots, rocks and debris to dig you. To make sure new plants are happy, you must change the soil with some peat and compost. Compound is available for purchase, but from your own compost pile is easy!

3) Plan: You know what you have and want to grow your seeds started, seedlings or purchased at your local greenhouse. Following the instructions for each one to ensure proper spacing. Some plants need some support if they are vertical vining plants (ie green beans). You can tie up trellis netting, or build a simple three-legged pyramid of long branches. And follow watering. long periods of dry hot weather will keep you very busy creating plant roots to find water, instead of growing and producing! Put out some buckets clean and free start to catch rainwater.

Enjoying that hot juicy tomato you grew yourself will get you addicted to gardening forever. Maybe you want to have a more elaborate garden and are ready to take the next step beyond tomatoes and peas?
